Survivor: Cook Islands Contestants
September 12th 2006 18:55
The new season of Survivor is set to premiere on September 14th. The Survivors will be stranded on Cook Island in the South Pacific. Rumors that this Survivor will split the contestants by race has increased interest in this latest installment. There will be twenty foolish, err..brave Survivors attempting to outplay, outwit and outlast the competitors.
Let's take a look at this year's contestants:
Pretty boy Adam is 28 and is from San Diego. He sells copiers, mainly to churches. Adam has hair that is full of product and styled into a cone. His favorite alcoholic drink is vodka and redbull, but he has no favorite non-alcoholic drink.Hmm.
Becky is also 28. She's an attorney living in Washington, DC. She also seems like somewhat of an over-achiever. She's also worked as a kickboxing instructor. That could come in handy. Favorite alcoholic drink? Cosmopolitan with orange Grey Goose.
Billy is 36. In his press photo, he is wearing a skull t-shirt, a skull bandana and a big goofy grin. Supposedly he is heavy metal guitarist and is trying to be a professional wrestler named Spanish Fly. He looks like your big cuddly cousin. His likes Corona, and like Adam has no favorite non-alcoholic drink.
Brad is 29. He lives in LA and is a fashion designer. He also likes to wear baby blue shirts left unbuttoned to his nipples. Two of his favorite artists are Mariah Carey and Kelly Clarkson. Brad doesn't seem particularly...masculine. Favorite drink? Cristal, of course.
Candace is 23 and a mark in the eye-candy section. She was so inspired by Survivor: Africa that she volunteered there and lived in a mud hut. She's a pre-med student and she lives in Washington, DC. Also, she received a perfect score on her math SAT's. Wow. I totally did not. Candace might be a threat because she is obviously intelligent but is pretty and people might underestimate her. She shares a favorite drink with Adam, and she also has no favorite non-alcoholic drink. I am thinking that this is a tribe of alcoholics.
Cao Boi (pronounced like cowboy!) and is 42. For some reason, CBS lists his occupation as prelate, loyal order of moose and later says he is a nail salon manager. He once played softball for 100 hours and is the world record holder. Favorite drink? Wine and Johnny Walker scotch. Hopefully not together.
Cecilia is 29 and from Oakland, CA. She is a technology risk consultant. She was raised in Peru and didn't learn to speak English until she was 16. She likes vodka and merlot.
Cristina is 35 and a police officer from LA. She also is wearing an extremely low-cut top in her press photo. Apparently she was almost crushed to death by a car and she was also shot in the arm by a murder suspect. She didn't list Survivor as one of her favorite shows, instead, she listed The Amazing Race. Ha! Her favorite drink is an apple martini.
Jenny is listed as Jenny Guzun-Bae and is referred to as either Jenny or Guzon-Bae in her press write-up. She lives in Illinois and is a real estate agent. Her parents tried to make her more "lady-like" by putting her in ballet and gymnastics for thirteen years, but apparently she thought that sucked. She's a Corona fan.
Jessica has some crazy hair and a big tattoo on her arm. She's 27, lives in California and is a performance artist. During her performances, she does fire stunts. Survivor is big on fire (fire represents life) so Jessica has that advantage. She has neither a favorite alcoholic drink or a favorite non-alcoholic drink. She also does not list Survivor as one of her favorite shows.
Jonathan is a writer/producer. He's 44 and he sort of looks like someone punched him in the face. He's been on a bunch of TV shows. He was nominated for an Oscar in 1994 for Best Short film, live action but he did not win. He likes wine, cocktails and beer. How can that be his favorite?? That is pretty much all types of alcohol except for chugging it out of the bottle. No favorite non-alcoholic drink.
JP is 30 and he's a professional volleyball player. Sadly, both his parents passed away from cancer. He was born on my birthday and he likes beer and wine. No favorite non-alcoholic drink. Really, is it that hard to choose?
Nathan is 26 and in retail sales. He sells shoes in a department store. They don't give much more information about him. He likes that awful Flavor of Love show and his favorite drinks are Hennessy/apple juice and Maker's Mark on the rocks. Of course, no favorite on the non-alcoholic side.
Ozzy lives in California and is a waiter. He's 25 and has big poofy hair. He can dive to 30 feet and hold his breath for three minutes. He also camped for five months straight. He needs to keep that info to himself or he'll be the first to go. He surfs with his dog Buddha. He likes tequila, wine and beer. You can guess the rest.
Parvati is 23 and a boxer/waitress. She's a good swimmer and apparently good at boxing. She is really pretty. Boxing is a good skill to have on Survivor. She likes red wine and Ketel and soda. I'm refusing to list non-alcoholic drink status now.
Rebecca is a make-up artist. She lives in New York and is 34. She received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Make-Up on a Daytime Talk Show. How? She does makeup for former Survivor Elizabeth Hasselbeck on "The View." Very interesting. She likes wine.
Sekou is 45 and he's a jazz musician/recording artist. He has been in a bunch of movies and TV shows and recorded CD's. He has no favorite drink.
Stephannie is 35 and a nursing student. She looks like Fantasia from American Idol. She was in the military and served during Desert Storm. She is married to her childhood sweetheart. One of her favorite movies is "The Sound of Music" which makes me like her already. No favorite drinks.
Sundra is an actress. She lives in LA and is 31. When she's not finding acting gigs, she's a cocktail waitress. She likes Apple Martini's. She lives with her son.
Yul is also from California. He's a management consultant. He went to Stanford and Yale. He volunteers to try to find minority bone marrow donors. He has no favorite drinks.
So there are our 20 Survivors. They are a bunch of alcoholics. Also, don't you think if you were going to go on Survivor you would, you know, list Survivor as one of your favorite shows?
The other interesting thing about this group is the high number of people who work in the entertainment field. I was under the impression that they tended to shy away from people like that. I wonder if they did that on purpose this time.
This season looks to be interesting and possibly controversial. See you on the 14th for the premiere!

I think their favourite non-aclcoholic drink is very quickly going to become water! They're all going on the show as part of a detox programme probably!
It should be interesting!

The next survivor series should be tribal segregation by religion. Survivor - Jerusalem!
Damn, would that get some ratings.
