Welcome to Reality TV Obsession

May 12th 2009 02:58
I want to welcome everyone to "Reality TV Obsession"! I have just taken over this domain. While the older posts, the ones before "Dancing With the Stars", are not my own, I am sure you will enjoy the read. I know I did.

I will be posting on reality TV shows of interest. Dancing With the Stars, The Bachelorette, Survivor, whatever I find interesting on any given night.

On occasion, I may write about a movie, sitcom or anything else that I may view on TV, that moves me. I promise to make all entries to Reality TV Obsession as interesting as possible. I may rant from time to time on something I find obscene, offensive or just downright wrong. Please feel free to voice your opinion!

I thank you for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the visit!

Bad Ideas on Flickr

August 12th 2008 02:42
Leaping across a chasm in flip flops and camera

It's not reality TV, but it almost could be: Mighty Girl looked through prominent Flickr photos to find the ones that look like they're capturing the survival of the fittest:

Top Ten Stupid Ideas on Flickr!

Stupid Ideas are always great fodder for reality TV. We need the stupid - that's what makes reality TV so appealing.

Would you want to watch a program called 'Several hardworking businessmen do a really great job'? No - you need to see messing around, drama, failure and embarassment. It's the reason why the opening episodes of American Idol are so popular, and the same trends string through all the popular shows.

It's the worst human characteristics that we want to see.

Bad ideas are fun for us, though. I'd never sweep off an icy roof like this, but a show about it would be glorious. First one to break a rib has to leave the island!

Actually, I like the playing with fireworks photo... you always think fireworks are just kids' toys, until you light one and realize, 'Damn, this is basically a stick of gunpowder - get it away from me!'.

It's a satisfying feeling, though, when you're firing a big one. The satisfying 'thunk!', the colours, the smells.

In case you're wondering about the photo, it's not actually that bad. Snopes reports that it's a place in the Grand Canyon where people intentionally go to take ludicrous photos like this one.
