CBS is confirming that the 20 new Survivor contestants will be split into tribes according to their race. There will be 4 tribes, black, white, Asian-American and Hispanic.
The creator of Survivor, Mark Burnett was asked his reponse to all the negative reaction this has gotten by the Associated Press and he said, "I'm not shocked. I just think truly any rational person would wait to see what happens."
Jeff Probst defended the decision to split the tribes by race saying that idea was based, "in terms of ethnic pride, not discrimination."
Survivor: Cook Islands, the 13th installment of Survivor, premieres tonight on CBS at 8 p.m. Eastern.
