This is one of the better cable reality shows out there now. It plays on the A&E channel. Gene Simmons is of course the vocalist and bass guitarist for the band KISS. He's known for strange makeup and sticking his tongue out.
Gene doesn't seem like a likely candidate for a family reality show but surprisingly he is very fatherly and domestic.
Despite having had live-in relationships with Cher and Diana Ross and having a rock and roll history, Gene maintains that he has never been drunk or done drugs.
He lives with his long time girlfriend Shannon, who is was Playmate of the Month in 1981. Together they have two children Nicholas and Sophie.
The show would originally seem like an "Osbournes" rip-off but it has a very different feel. Gene is kind and gentle but you can actual understand him. Despite his rockstar reputation he is a very strict parent and his children are often embarassed by him. Both of his children are very funny and while it is clear that many of the scenarios that are aired are more of the "staged-reality" variety, the show is entertaining anyway. The whole family is simply easy to like and you want to spend time with them.
