This photo of the coveted Dancing With the Stars trophy was taken from my TV, with my cellphone on tonight's Dancing With the Stars program.
Dancing With the Stars the finals aired tonight on ABC. The Dancing With the Stars final three contestants performed 2 dances. First a Pasa Doble "face-off", where the three remaining Dancing With the Stars contestants, danced the Pasa Doble. The dance started with all three couples performing the same dance steps, then individually performing their own Pasa dance style. In the end the three came together again, as a group. The second dance that the final three competitors were required to perform was the "freestyle dance". This dance style is my favorite! With the freestyle competition, there are NO rules and no holds barred.
The Dancing With the Stars judges had nothing but praise for the three remaining contestants Pasa Doble. The scores reflect that praise.
* Shawn Johnson and Dancing With the Stars professional dancer, Mark Ballas, received a score of 28 out of a possible 30.
* Melissa Rycroft and Dancing With the Stars professional dancer, Tony Dovolani, received a score of 29 out of a possible 30.
* Gilles Marini and Dancing With the Stars professional dancer, Cheryl Burke, received a score of 30 out of a possible 30!
Melissa Rycroft and Dancing With the Stars pro, Tony Dovolani performed their freestyle dance next. They chose a form of Hip-Hop dance. It was full of flips and tricks, but it lacked something. Obviously, the Dancing With the Stars judges agreed with me. Their score, a 27 of a possible 30. Melissa's final two dance score was 56 out of a possible 60.
Gilles Marini and Dancing With the Stars pro, Cheryl Burke, finished off the freestyle round. The two chose a dance in the style of "Flash Dance". I found it fast paced, full of energy and just plain fun! The Dancing With the Stars judges did not agree. The two received a score of 28 of a possible 30. Gilles received a final two dance score of 58 out of a possible 60.
Dancing With the Stars will conclude the Spring season of 2009, tomorrow night, 5/19/2009 on ABC. Dancing With the Stars the finals will air at 8:00 p.m. central. Check your local listings for the time near you.
The three remaining Dancing With the Stars Contestants will then perform one final dance. The Dancing With the Stars judges will render their score, it will count as 50% of the two night combined score. The Dancing With the Stars winner will then be announced! Exciting!
