How Can She Slap on Indian Reality TV
September 19th 2008 03:59
You know, Australian Reality TV shows are hugely popular, and for good reason. They are, quite simply, the most significant breakthrough in entertainment in the last decade. Before reality TV we were all just proverbial amoebas, reproducing asexually.
Big Brother Australia gave us gonads, and Australian Idol was our mating call.
With such a huge influence on Australian culture, reality TV is the new church. Only by watching other people trapped in a house can you pick up the latest gossip and slang, delighting your friends and family with your significant awareness of what's hip.
Compared to Indian Reality TV, though, us Aussies are lightweights.
It's going buckwild on the interwebs, this video of an Indian show, where college students get humiliated on TV, trying to win a lot of money. Yeah, that didn't make a lot of sense, but then, I'm not watching the show, I'm just watching this video:
The host is an English student who, from her profile page, hates 'LS (low-society, duh!)' and tries to be the Bollywood Paris Hilton with 'I'm hot, you're not'. I don't buy it, personally.
The contestant, who was beat up on national TV, is suing the show. The slap, counter-slap and street-beat weren't part of the script apparently.
" After a while when it came to improvisations, I presume she was out of words and came and slapped me hard. I was shocked and in the heat of the moment, I slapped her back. That led to the entire unit of about 70 people jumping on me beating me black and blue. It was a miracle in itself that I managed to escape from there,” he says."
Well, the internet loves ya, bro, and people are snapping up these 'How can she slap?' T-shirts...
