Reality TV Obsession - September 2006

Survivor Episode 3

September 29th 2006 16:52
So after all that buildup, we aren't even racially separated anymore. Sheesh. That was pretty tricky. Build up buzz and then have us all realize that none of it even mattered.

Not much action happened this week.

Biggest news is that the tribes got switched. Four team captains were picked randomly. Two women and Two men.

Each woman had to pick a woman not from their original tribe. Then each man. Then the people they picked would do the same and so on.

After four tribes were established, each team captain was given an "egg" and told to squeeze it hard. It produced either blue or red paint. Now we were down to two tribes.

Tribe Raro:
Adam
Brad
Cristina
Jenny
JP
Nate
Parvati
Rebecca
Stephannie

Team Aitu:
Becky
Candice
Cao Boi
Cecilia
Jessica
Jonathan
Ozzie
Sundra
Yul

All the items from both tribes are gathered up and split evenly.

Candice lets us know that she thinks Billy is nuts if he thinks they had something special.

New alliances are attempted to be made.

At the immunity challenge, they all get attached to a rope and have a 15lb sandbag around their necks. You can drop out but then someone else has to carry your weight. The teams start on opposites sides of a circle that is in knee deep water and then walk around until they can catch the other team and tackle them. Yul finally decides they he can take down the entire team and immediately gets his butt knocked to the ground. Team Raro wins immunity.

Raro has to send one of Aitu's members to exile island which means that person can not be voted off. They send Candice.

At the vote, it comes down to Becky and Cecilia. Cecilia loses with 5 votes to Becky's 4.

Next week, there is problems between the women and the men, namely that the women are doing all the work. Cao Boi climbs a tree and gets a baby chick. Or something. Anyway, he looks nuts.

America's Next Top Model ep1

September 21st 2006 17:49
First off, I have to say..what the hell is wrong with Tyra Banks?? All her fake diva behavior looked PSYCHOTIC. And you have to know that she is like that in real life. No doubt.

Plus, if I had to live in a Tyra Banks apartment I wouldn't be able to sleep. That girl is freaky.

Ok, so Christian is gone. Whatever. The first group of people to be eliminated you don't even know so you can't feel too bad. Although, the crying gets to me.

Why aren't models pretty anymore? Don't get it.

I actually liked the gal who refused to get naked. She was pretty. But come on...IT IS A MODELING SHOW. Haven't you watched it? Mr. Jay loves getting you girls naked. Not that he would want to sleep with any of you, but naked is fine. Not knowing you get named on ANTM is like not knowing that you'll have to sleep on an island when you go on Survivor.

"Oh, you mean there is no Denny's here?"

Monique has already shown herself to be a complete bitch with the water pouring and all. But um..why don't they have enough beds for all the girls? It's like during the 1st cycle when they stuck the girls in that tiny room in Paris and didn't have enough beds. Stop creating drama. This show is full of drama on it's own.

And then Melrose. She doesn't have time for the issa. Well sorry, babe, I don't think America has time for you.

Jeff Probst on the race issue

September 19th 2006 03:47
Jeff Probst says that the people behind Survivor didn't originally intend to separate tribes by race. He said that they were trying to make a more diverse cast, but they realized that the cast had strong ethnic pride.

He says he thinks they did a good job, but he's anxious to see how the public takes it.

What do you think? Was dividing the tribes by race a good idea? Will it just continue to increase racial stereotypes? Are you watching this season?

Gene Simmons Family Jewels

September 12th 2006 22:48
This is one of the better cable reality shows out there now. It plays on the A&E channel. Gene Simmons is of course the vocalist and bass guitarist for the band KISS. He's known for strange makeup and sticking his tongue out.

Gene doesn't seem like a likely candidate for a family reality show but surprisingly he is very fatherly and domestic
